MySecurity Tip- natural barriers

Natural barriers are always an inexpensive but effective measure to increase security around your home and business. It has worked very well for our clients needing greater security.

The most effective measure has been utilizing thorny bushes. We have planted them along fences and created boundaries and walkways. They can be used well if placed close to windows and screens. you can also place them around large immovable objects on your premises where would be criminals can hide.

There are a lot of different plants, trees and bushes in Australia that both look good and contain a painful surprise. happy plantings.....

CPP and body guard scam

Some operatives have reported suspicious international calls mainly from the Russian Federation requesting personal information in return for an invitation to tender for body guarding and close personal protection contracts. In the reported cases the caller has been a female who seems to be well informed on security procedures and tactics. If the caller is unable to illicit personal information she then tries to confirm a meeting outside the home country.

It's the most recent scam to target the security industry from international criminals. Caution should be exercised when handling international calls especially if the caller cannot verify how they obtained the contact number.

Security News- Unisec corrupt company

September 24, 2009

A senior RailCorp manager masterminded a $200,000 scheme to solicit bribes from dozens of major companies, the NSW corruption watchdog has found. The ICAC found Mr Khan was involved in a plan to "swindle $200,000 from RailCorp in return for awarding a RailCorp security guard auditing services contract". Mr Khan's boss alerted the ICAC before he allegedly accepted a $15,000 kickback from security firm Unisec on May 22 this year.

A report on the investigation into the solicitation and receipt of corrupt payments from a RailCorp contractor was released in Sydney on Thursday. The commission found Mr Khan planned to solicit the $200,000 over four years in return for awarding the contract to Unisec Security Pty Ltd.

"The commission found that when managing a tender process for the supply of RailCorp security guard auditing services this year, Wasim Khan arranged for Unisec's tender to be increased from about $115,000 per year over the four years to approximately $180,000 per year for the period," the report said. This would enable Unisec to afford to make $200,000 in corrupt payments."

MySecurity Tip - uncluttered yard

Through our experience we have found that thieves, abductors and stalkers tend to pay more attention to a premises if it is cluttered with objects, providing what we call 'object information'. For example kid's toys can tell a pedophile the age, sex and number of children who live at the premises. Large objects provide hiding spots from where would be criminals can listen and watch for routine patterns. Space, lighting and a clean yard is a inexpensive way to reduce risk and allow you to better manage and observe your premises.
